Tuning and Pitch Raises
Bringing each string up to pitch and into tune with the other 220+ strings.
Minor Repairs
This includes broken strings, stuck keys, lubrication, broken hammers, etc. Michelle can also advise on repairs requiring the service of a professional piano repair shop.
Partial and Full Regulations
Regulation involves making fine adjustments in the piano's action to ensure consistent playability throughout the entire keyboard.
Voicing
Voicing is the art of adjusting the felt heads on the hammers so that they all produce the same tonal characteristics, thereby defining the piano's "voice."
Purchase Consultations
Michelle is happy to look at a piano before you buy it, especially a pre-owned piano. A skilled technician will be able to give insight that could save you hundreds or thousands of dollars. If a piano only costs $150, there's probably a reason. Michelle will help you identify the trouble spots and provide a fair market estimate on what it will cost to repair and maintain the instrument after you own it.
Appraisals
Whether for insurance purposes or mere personal curiosity, Michelle is qualified to appraise your piano's value and replacement costs.
Piano Restoration Guidance
Some of the finest pianos ever built are 80-120 years old. While they may look and sound tired, maybe even dead, it's possible that these instruments will bring a very high price if properly restored or rebuilt. Michelle will be able to tell you if you have a gem on your hands. |
